Suriya’s ‘NGK’ poster has become the talk of the town. But what is ‘NGK’? What does the poster reveals? There have been many speculations that have surrounding the first look and a lot of it is notheless intriguing and highly fitting as well. Here are some:

1.Wearing a beret cap, sporting a ruffian beardwith dark aviators, this is an iconic imitation of the revolutionary leader Che Guevara and the film may lean heavily on ‘revolutionary’ themes.

2.There is also a buzz that NGK is for Nanda Gopalan Kumaran – (think ‘in and as’ from the poster) . And that it is about a man hailing from from brahmin roots wanting to go against it.  There is also the speculation as to it might stand for N-Napolean G-Guevara and K-Karl Marx . But we will have to wait to find veracity on these tidbits though.

3. A little squinting of your eyes attentively will reveal the number 463, which just happens to be the page that went missing in his book ‘A Revolutionary Life’. Will the film also take creative liberty and base thestory on a wonderment of what that page would have said?

4. This is really interesting as it quite nails it. Che Guevara’s iconic photo that you see on tee shirts and merchandise was taken by a photographer named Alberto Korda on March 5, 1960. It kind of became Che’s ‘first look’, if you will. This explains Suriya’s ‘first look’ as well on a March 5 date.

5. With rising fists in the poster, a form of communist salute, it is almost evident that the film will have anti-establishment tones and socio-political themes. Selvaraghavan as a director achieved quite a feat to make us go ‘aww’ and go scratching our heads (or ‘thinking’) as well. That’s the touch of a real storyteller.
