Suriya, one of the most versatile Tamil actors, turns 48 today. The day began with the first glimpse of his next film 'Kanguva.' The movie makers presented the 2-minute-long video at midnight after much anticipation. Fans are frenzy over their idol's birthday treat on the internet.
The promo opens with a pool of dead soldiers on a battlefield while the voice-over introduces us to the main character by praising him and his ancestors. We were shown Suriya (masked) as Kangaa, a tribal warrior and leader, rising and killing an enemy with his spear in the fire. The camera tilts down from an army of tribes to Suriya's face reveal with a loud roar.
Suriya looks stunning in the long-haired and long-bearded look. His single-word dialogue, "Nalama?" in his arresting look will go down as a mass statement. Devi Sri Prasad's background music sounds fierce. Director Siruthai Siva in the press meet yesterday confirmed that the film is set 1500 years ago and some portions of the movie happen in contemporary times.
The first glimpse was released in six languages. Arunraja Kamaraj voiced the talkie and song portions in the glimpse, which is terrific. The lyrics and dialogues were penned jointly by Madhan Karky and Viveka. An early 2024 release is confirmed in the promo. Sources tell us that the makers are aiming for a grand Tamil New Year release (April 12, 2024).
Kanguva is jointly produced by Studio Green K.E. Gnanavelraja in association with UV Creations Vamsi-Pramod. Made at a whopping budget of Rs 200 crore, the film is set to be released in 3D and in ten languages. The upcoming movie stars Suriya, Disha Patani, Natty Natraj, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, KS Ravikumar, BS Avinash, Kovai Sarala and others.
