The critically acclaimed film of Suriya, Jai Bhim has bagged three main awards at the 9th Noida International Film Festival and the official announcement was made today. The film features Suriya, Lijimol Jose and Manikandan in lead roles.

Not long ago, ‘Jai Bhim’ was featured on the official YouTube channel of the Oscar Awards and it was shortlisted as one of the eligible films for the 94th Academy Awards. Earlier, the movie was also nominated for the Golden Globe Awards 2022 for the Best Non-English Language Film.

The film traces the story of Sengeni, whose husband Raja Kannu (portrayed by Manikandan) gets arrested by the police for a crime that he has not committed. Sengeni who belong to the Irular tribe with the help of a lawyer Chandru (portrayed by Suriya) tries to find out the truth about her husband who goes missing while in police custody. The movie won the awards of Best Film, Best Actor – Suriya and Best Actress – Lijomol Jose.

On the other hand, Suriya is currently waiting for the release of Etharkkum Thunindavan directed by Pandiraj. Lijomol was last seen in the movie 'Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa'. On the personal front, she married Arun Antony Onisseril on 4th October 2021, in Wayanad, Kerala
