Suriya's 'Jai Bhim' has received unanimous positive reviews from all over ahead of its stream on Amazon Prime Video from Novermber 2nd. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin watched a special show of the socio political legal drama and was deeply moved. He has shot a letter to Suriya in which he has expressed the same adding that the core issue of the film reminded him of his own time in prison when arrested in 1976 under MISA (MAINTENANCE OF INTERNAL SECURITY ACT, 1971) during the emergency period.
Stalin wrote in Tamil I saw the 'Jai Bhim' movie yesterday and it made my mind heavy throughout the night recalling my own experiences. You have shown that the lives of marginalized people and the sufferings they experience that is very difficult to be accurately and artistically visualized. Although the screenplay is based on an event that took place in history, the impact it has had on the minds of the audience is overwhelming. Sometimes the mistakes made by some police officers cause great disgrace to the department itself. At the same time, you have also shown that another police officer is assisting in uncovering the truth. You have also shown that the truth will be upheld by honest and conscientious officials. The film goes on to say that law and justice can wipe out any misery. Social disorder can be stopped if both a lawyer (Chandru) and a police officer (IG Perumalsamy) think and act with concience.
Stalin added My friend Surya has effectively acted as a quiet, at the same time, authoratative lawyer. Rather than acting, the lawyer has lived as Chandru. Surya deserves accolades for choosing the story, producing it and himself starring in it in spite of a limited scope for the role. The director Gnanavel has turned the story into a riveting film and I would like to express my appreciation to the entire film crew. It is my desire that there should be plenty of films like this made in Tamil. I was moved by the fact that my friend Surya had given me one crore rupees for the development of the Tribal Protection Association, and not stopping with just making a picture of the injustice and considering his duty was over. It is an attempt to illuminate the life of darkness.
The CM then emotionally wrote A similar attack by the police took place at the Chennai Central Jail on the night of February 2, 1976. The one who bore the many blows that fell on me was the venerable Chittibabu. So his life was taken away. Chittibabu has written the torture of that day as a prison diary. All of these memories haunted my mind’s eye when I saw 'Jai Bhim'. Once again I compliment the crew for making such an impact on me. My congratulations and thanks to friend Surya.
Surya, in turn has thanked the Chief Minister's letter, on Twitter and wrote I stand speechless with emtion reading the words of The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and his emotional appreciation has served the purpose of 'Jai Bhim'. Heartfelt thanks to our Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on behalf of the entire team.
