High Court's sensational order on FIR filed against Suriya

The Madras High Court hearing a petition filed by top Tamil actor Suriya has given a sensational order in favor of him today. On Sunday Suriya and film director T.J. Gnanavel jointly moved the High Court to quash an FIR filed against them at the Velacherry police station in Chennai.
K. Santhosh of Rudra Vanniyar Sena the complainant alleged that the movie 'Jai Bhim' directed by Gnanavel and starring Suriya hurt the sentiments of the Vanniyar community. It was further alleged that naming the villain as Guru was an attack on one of their leaders as well.
Hearing the case today (July 18th) the judge ordered that no severe action be taken against Suriya and T J Gnanavel regarding the complaint. He adjourned the case to July 21st.
'Jai Bhim' (2021) which was released directly on Amazon Prime Video OTT platform was inspired by the real case of a tribal man's custodial death handled by the then advocate Chandru who later became a famous judge. Suriya played the role of Chandru while Manikandan and Lijomol Jose played the lead roles.
