Suriya's 2014 film 'Anjaan' directed by N. Linguswamy was one of the most hyped films of his career and took a gigantic opening at the box office. But unfortunately it was panned by critics and it could not sustain the opening numbers and turned out to be a below-average grosser.
Suriya played a gangster Raju Bhai who returns from almost death to take revenge on his enemies in the guise of his brother. The film with chart-busting music by Yuvan Shankar Raja was produced by UTV Motion Pictures and had Suriya, Samantha, Soori and Vidyut Jamwal in the cast.
Meanwhile 'Katarnak Khiladi 2' the Hindi dubbed version of 'Anjaan' has smashed many records by garnering a massive 140 million views on YouTube. G. Dhananjayan who produced the film has shared "Everyone ran down our #Anjaan by @dirlingusamy sir with @Suriya_offl sir. Look at the Hindi viewership of the dubbed version #KhatarnakKhiladi2 ... 140 Million+ views. Each market reacts in a different way. Good learning though"
Suriya fans who are in celebration mode for their idol's 45th birthday on July 23rd have one more addition to their festivities. They may however have to wait a little longer to catch his next film 'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara which is likely to hit the screens by January 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
