Suriya recently made headlines when the news of his blockbuster film Soorarai Potru's Hindi remake surfaced on the internet. He will next be seen in a rural subject film directed by Pandiraj. The film is tentatively titled Suriya 40.

The cinematographer of this film R Rathnavelu, took to Twitter to announce that the cast and crew have resumed shooting for the film post lockdown. The shooting of the film began in March. However, it was suspended due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sharing this news Rathnavel wrote, “Returning to the Shooting spot! Great feeling to hold the camera after a long gap !! This is the place where I belong to !! CINEMA !! Kick started a long schedule for # S40 @Suriya_offl @pandiraj_dir @SunTV @jacki_art.”

This film marks the third time collaboration of Suriya with director Pandiraj. According to reports, the team will resume shooting in Chennai and later reach Karaikudi for the final schedule. The first look poster of his film is expected to be released on Suriya's birthday which falls on 23rd July.
