Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelacheruvu Suri was a notorious factionist hailing from the Rayalaseema region. He was murdered by Bhanu Kiran, another factionist, in 2011, at Hyderabad's Yousufguda. A local court has on Tuesday sentenced him to life imprisonment in the long-winding case.
Kiran’s aide Manmohan Singh has been sentenced to five years imprisonment. Four other accused have been acquitted.
The verdict was delivered after examining about 92 witnesses over the years. The CID investigation went on for 7 years. Driver Madhu's testimony was a clinching evidence. Forensic report was another crucial piece of evidence. It was a point-blank shot which only Bhanu Kiran (in the vehicle in which Suri was there) could have committed. The weapon used in the murder was traced only two years after the incident.
