Suresh Raina the swashbuckling former Indian batsman and the permanent number three for Chennai Super Kings had to rush back home from UAE due to a personal family tragedy. There have been many speculations in the media regarding his departure including a tiff with captain Dhoni and the CSK head Srinivasan.

Raina has opened up on Twitter regarding unknown assailants who attacked his uncle's family in Punjab killing him and injuring the other family members. He has written "What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support."

Raina has added "Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes."

Meanwhile Srinivasan has stated that his team will always stand by their star batsman and that he was misquoted in the media and never spoke ill about Raina. The brilliant cricketer has not mentioned anything about his IPL 2020 or CSK future which is understandable in this time of great personal tragedy. Sports can wait for the Chinna Thala as he is fondly called by the CSKians.
