Director Renji Panicker's son Nithin Renji Panicker made his directorial debut with the Mammootty starrer 'Kasaba', which was a big hit. After 3 years hiatus, the young and dynamic actor has kick-started his new movie. This time the director is teaming up with yet another Mollywood superstar.

Nithin has started shooting for his second directorial 'Kaval' starring Suresh Gopi in the lead. The movie went on floors on January 25 at Kattappana, Kerala. The news was revealed by the lead star Suresh Gopi himself through his social media page.

'Kava'l is being touted to be a blend of action thriller and family drama spanning two generations. Veteran actor-writer Renji Panicker will be playing a major role in the flick. Zaya David, last seen in Irupathiyonnam Noottaandu, plays the female lead with Muthumani, IM Vijayan, Sujith Sankar, Alencier, and Kannan Rajan P Dev cast in supporting roles.

Nikhil S Praveen, who won a National award for his cinematography in 'Bhayanakam', is cranking the camera while Mansoor Muthootti handles the editing. Joby George’s Goodwill Entertainments is bankrolling the film, which has music by Ranjin Raj.

The makers had earlier released the minimal title poster, which showed a gun tucked in the protagonist’s mundu. The posted had generated a huge buzz on the project.

Meanwhile, Suresh Gopi's next release is 'Varane Avashyamund' directed by Anoop Sathyan and co-starring Shobana, Dulquer Salmaan, and Kalyani Priyadarshan.
