There is a buzz that actor Suresh Gopi is eyeing the Lieutenant colonel title. Among the actors, Mohanlal was awarded one by the territorial army amidst much controversy. Media and some eminent personalities had criticised the move.

With his film career on a downward trend, he had been getting active in the political sphere. His social activities had made news. However, there too it is reported that the BJP leadership, with whom he hopes to join is turning a cold shoulder. Some of his comments have not gone down well with many. The latest rumour is that he is trying hard for the Lieutenant Colonel title.
