Earlier this month, a cash-rich man from Pune ordered a face mask made of gold. The mask is worth Rs 2.89 lakh. Wearing it, the man proudly posed in front of the media.
It seems it's not a one-off aberration that we witnessed. The itch for gold-made face masks, it turns out, is not a fringe thing anymore. Surat jewellers have reportedly been getting orders for golden masks for lavish weddings. As reported by ANI, a jeweler in Surat has started selling diamond-studded masks, whose costs range between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh.
The news agency reports that these masks, to be worn by brides and grooms in a number of upcoming weddings, have been made of pure diamond and American diamond.
The only challenge the owners of jeweler shops are facing pertains to the shortage of workers, most of whom have gone back to villages after the imposition of a nation-wide lockdown in March.
