In those days, this song had been a gana ghar ghar ki, when there was only one channel Doordarshan… This song carried the very essence of unity in diversity, through the blend of sports, music, dance and cinema; with coming together of personalities from different caste, creed and states…

Now “Miley Sur Mera Tumhara” is back in naye aur bade version… New – for it is completely fresh and enhanced than the original. Bigger – for it is sung by 69 icons instead of the original 26. "Phir Miley Sur" was launched on Monday to commemorate India’s 60th Republic Day.

Now one can just guess names randomly from our screen celebrities to include in this music video. The new video is replaced by the young junta of the B-town. Interestingly, in the new version Amitabh Bachchan is the only icon from the original one and a non-singer who have also rendered his voice for this. “People from film industry along with so many other individuals have given their voices to make this wonderful song of India. I am the only person in the song who has a repeat value,” said the humble legend.

Besides Big B, the music video features Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Juhi Chawla among the actors’ list. AR Rahman, Shankar-Ehsan-Loy, Shivamani, Anoushka Shankar, Shreya Ghoshal, Amjad Ali Khan with sons Aman and Ayan, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma with Rahul, Zakir Hussain with his brothers Taufiq and Faizal Qureshi have found place here. On Aug 15, 1988, "Mile sur mera tumhara" first hit the small screens, on Doordarshan. It was conceptualized and conceived by late Suresh Mallick. And now after 22 years Arti and Kailash Surendranath have remade it as "Phir mile sur".

However, like they say – old is gold; the new avatar seems to be no compare with the original which was short yet impressive… Watch it to feel the difference.
