Supreme court summons Govt. on cyber monitoring!

The Supreme court of India has sent a notice to the Home affairs ministry, against an order that enabled 10 agencies to carry out surveillance. There were four separate public interest litigation filed against this order, alleging that the MHA had violated section 69 of the Information technology act and the rights to privacy.
One of the petitioners, Shreya Singhal mentioned that this order which gives snooping powers was based on section 69 of the IT act was against the fundamental rights as well as privacy, and another petitioner Amit Sahni, an advocate had filed a petition challenging the order that was issued on December 20.
According to this order, 10 agencies were authorized to monitor, decrypt and intercept data on any Indian device. Following the rising opposition that the data of public will be compromised, and tracking every device will affect privacy, petitions were filed, and the Supreme court of India has issued a notice to the government, demanding an explanation within 6 weeks.
