Supreme court steps up against the Blue Whale menace

The Blue Whale challenge game set the country's media ablaze with at least 200 reported deaths. The online game which is said to be created by a 22 year old Russian ex-convict Phillip Budeikin makes the player undergo a series of self-destructive tasks for a 50 day timeline before the game's final task of suicide.
In relation to this, the supreme court had called for the centre's response on a plea seeking to ban the game and make it unavailable to the public.The bench which consisted of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A.M Khanwilkar and Justice D.Y Chandrachud has sought a response within three weeks.
According to petitioner C.R Jaya Sukin, most of the people that were wrongly influenced by the fatal game were in the age group between 13 and 15 years. So creating awareness among the public regarding the fatalities of the game was also was also stressed upon by the petitioner.
Earlier the Delhi High Court had sought the response of online platforms like Facebook , Google and Yahoo on a plea to take down the links of the Blue Whale challenge from their websites. Now, the apex court's enthusiasm to check the issue by taking matters into hand is a welcome move.
