Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ directed by his daughter Soundarya released in 2014 gaining the prestigious title of being the country’s first ever motion capture film. The film also starred Deepika Padukone and had composer A.R.Rahman scoring the music.
Media One Global Entertainment was one of the film’s bankrollers for which Latha Rajinikanth is a director. The firm had reportedly sought a loan of Rs.10 crore during post-production works from a company called Ad Bureau. However later following Ad Bureau’s claim that Media One Global Entertainment owed R.6.2 crores in dues and that the rights of the film were sold illegally by producing fake documents in the court, the issue was brought up at the country’s apex court.
Today, the Supreme Court has ordered Superstar Rajinikanth’s wife Latha Rajinikanth to refund the said firm with an amount of Rs.6.2 crores along with the interest. The court also has given a stipulated time of 2 weeks for the payment of the same. With Superstar Rajinikanth’s political journey just gaining traction, the resolution of this issue will be important.
