The Supreme Court has ordered all cinema halls to play the National Anthem accompanied by the tricolor flag on screen and has made it compulsory for all audiences stand up and pay their respects.

A PIL was filed by one Shyam Narayan Chouksey that due respect should be paid to the National Anthem and that every citizen should respect it. He had also sought proper norms to be fixed by the government for the playing of the song in public which should be strictly adhered to. Commercial exploitation of Jana Gana Mana` written by the great Rabindranath Tagore is also banned and the Central government has assured the Supreme Court that it will sent the notifications to all the State Government in this regard.
