Yesterday initial reports about the Supreme Court verdict on a petition filed against anti-NEET protests in Tamil Nadu stated that the apex court had banned all the protests against NEET since it would amount to contempt of Court.

However the full order of the SC bench is out and now the truth is out. The SC has not banned democratic and silent protests. The court has only said that the protesters should not cause any disturbance to public by resorting to road and rial roks and also not indulge in any form of violence and cause any problem to the law and order situation. The court has asked the police department to act tough on those creating violence in the name of anti-NEET protests but it has clearly stated that there is no bar for peaceful protests.
