The Madras High Court has fined Kollywood superstar Vijay Rs 1 lakh, besides asking him to pay the amount as a contribution to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Corona Relief Fund. This is in connection with a case filed by the 'Sarkar' actor seeking the exemption of Entry Tax on his imported luxury car.
The actor, who owns the likes of BMW Mini Cooper, Toyota Innova, Audi A8 and Rolls Royce Ghost, bought a Rolls Royce in 2012. It was then that he filed for the entry tax exemption and the judgment has come now.
In its order, the court today opined that popular names should behave responsibly in real life too, adding that it's unacceptable that the actors portray roles highlighting social justice in their movies but evade tax in reality.
'Beast', which is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, is Vijay's next movie. Pooja Hegde is its female lead. Anirudh is scoring the music and Manoj Paramahamsa of 'Radhe Shyam' fame is its musician. The actor is also scheduled to do a film with Vamshi Paidipally and Dil Raju.
