Superstar Rajnikanth who was last seen on screen in Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj and has completed his 167th movie Darbar directed by AR Murugadoss. Produced by Lyca Productions, Darbar which also stars Nayanthara is releasing on Pongal 2020.

After Darbar, Rajnikanth has joined hands with director Siva, whose Viswasam starring Thala Ajith which was released along with Petta this Pongal had impressed Rajnikanth and he had invited Siva to his home to appreciate him,and recently this project was made official.

Produced by Sun pictures, this movie was rumoured to have either Jyothika or Keerthy Suresh as female leads, and even Manju Warrier was said to have been cast, and the latest speculation making rounds is that popular comedian Soori might be joining the cast of Thalaivar 168 and an official clarification is awaited.
