Superstar Rajnikanth is currently acting in his 167th movie Darbar, which is directed by AR Murugadoss, andthe movie is produced by Lyca Productions, in their second movie with the Superstar after 2.0, and with AR Murugadoss after Kaththi.

Darbar is being shot in Mumbai, and this movie which has Rajnikanth as a police officer has cinematography by Santhosh Sivan, who had earlier worked with Rajnikanth in Thalapathy. Earlier, the cinematographer had praised Superstar and yet again, he has appreciated him in his latest tweet.

Santhosh Sivan tweeted "Rajini Sir continues to surprise , even after so many years..On camera and otherwise..Our crew is overwhelmed". Darbar also stars lady Superstar Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, and has music by Anirudh. The movie is planned as a Pongal 2020 release.
