Yesterday marked the fifth year death anniversary of legendary director K Balachander, and an event was held at Kumara Raja Muthiah hall in Chennai. During this event, on memory of the maker, K Balachander fans club was launched, and former mayor Saidai Duraisamy unveiled the club's board.

The event saw the presence of some of the popular industry personalities like director Saran, actors Rajesh and Siva Kumar and producer K Rajan. Speaking in the event, K Rajan said that there are many directors who came to the industry inspired by K Balachander and many who had worked with him before becoming top directors, and he has made many successful actors too. However only Siva Kumar, Saran are here and that it is saddening.

K Rajan further said "Just like a saying that only a dog will be faithful, people who had worked with Balachander have turned fans and have started this fans club today. K Balachander was someone who gave life to Tamil cinema and launched many actors. His family is now in financial crisis, and they should not be facing troubles. To help Balachander's family, Superstar Rajnikanth must act in a movie for their production house and I believe he will do it soon".
