Though Superstar Rajnikanth and Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan have been friends for more than 40 years, the kind of films they act and their commercial results are completely different, and this difference was expected to happen in their political ventures as well.
While Kamal Haasan had started his Makkal Needhi Maiam party unexpectedly last year, Rajnikanth had announced his political entry but is yet to start his party. A week back, the stars had said that they will unite if needed, for the welfare of Tamil Nadu. Recently, Makkal Needhi Maiam, which had contested Lok Sabha elections this year had announced that the party is not contesting local body elections and that their target is to form government in 2021.
Superstar Rajnikanth had also announced that he will not be associated with any political party in local body elections. After these announcements, Tamil Nadu minister Jayakumar has said that Rajnikanth announcing a boycott of local body elections is a loss for Kamal Haasan, and further added that Rajnikanth will say the same for 2021 general elections as well.
