Superstar Rajnikanth was last seen on screen in Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj and later went on to act in his 167th movie Darbar directed by AR Murugadoss. Darbar is produced by Lyca Productions, and this is their second movie with Superstar after 2.0.

Rajnikanth had completed dubbing for Darbar yesterday, and AR Murugadoss had called it one of his best dubbing experiences. The movie has music by Anirudh who also composed music for Petta and the audio launch of the movie is expected to take place on December 7.

The latest speculation making rounds is that the team is planning to release the movie on January 9, on eve of Pongal festival and an official announcement is expected soon. Darbar also stars Lady Superstar Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Yogi Babu and Suniel Shetty.
