Today is a remarkable day in Indian cinema history as two Indian films triumphed big at the 95th Academy Awards. The nation is proud of 'RRR' and 'The Elephant Whisperers' winning Oscars under the Best Original Song and the Best Documentary Short category.
These two are the first Indian-origin movies to have clinched the Oscar honour in 110 years of Indian cinema. While composer MM Keeravani acquired the award for 'Naatu Naatu', filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves received the award for 'The Elephant Whisperers'. Social media is filled with congratulatory messages as all Indians are celebrating the big win.
Film celebrities, sports personalities and politicians are also showering wishes. The latest addition to the list is Superstar Rajinikanth, who took to his Twitter page to congratulate the winners. He wrote, "My hearty congratulations to Shri. Keeravani, Shri. Rajamouli and Shri. Kartiki Gonsalves for getting the prestigious Oscar Award. I salute to the proud Indians (sic)."
On the work front, Rajinikanth is now working for 'Jailer'. He will start shooting for his daughter Aishwarya's sports drama, 'Lal Salaam', in which he plays a pivotal cameo role. The veteran also has a new untitled film with director TJ Gnanavel and Lyca Productions. He is said to be playing a retired cop battling against the encounter culture.
