Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan share a 43 year old friendship that has only grown stronger and stands the test of time. In recent events when the two legends came together the younger generation would have seen and heard them praising one another and showing genuine mutual respect. Kavithalaya the production house of the Iyakkunar Sigaram K. Balachander has published videos of both Rajini and Kamal speeches at the success meet of the 1986 blockbuster film 'Punnagai Mannan'.

Rajini who was one of the chief guests at the function said that he attended the function to prove the brotherhood, the friendship and the mutual respect they have for each other. He stated that Kamal is the ony actor who is also a star while others can be only one of the two. He praised his multi faceted friend as an actor's actor and how Sivaji Ganesan is lauded as the institiution of acting at that time in the coming decades it will Kamal who will be addressed as that. Hasnt Rajini's prediction come true today as all the younger generation heroes cite Kamal as their inspiration and institution.

Kamal in his speech shared that he told Rajini that he had praised him beyond his talents and did not thank him because there is no need for that as they are brothers. Regarding Rajini calling him an actor's actor Kamal said that he would definately try to live upto his friend's expectations. Kamal pointed out that if that day he was considered a good actor then Rajini is as much a reason for that as K. Balachander. He has explained that by stating that because had a powerful rival in Rajinikanth he has the motivation to grow as an actor. The 'Bigg Boss' stated three decades back that when he was walking as an actor the arrival of the terrific talent Rajini is what made him run and achieve big. He further had openly acknowledged that it was the Thalaivar's speed that made him increase his speed and in their race they dont care who wins but will continue to run.
