Superstar Rajinikanth along with his family is flying to the US this evening. Sources close to the family has revealed that it is a casual tour to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. The veteran is in an upbeat mood after his SciFi actioner '2.0' directed by Shankar and produced by Lyca Productions has become a huge hit all over. The mega film costarred Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson with A.R. Rahman scoring the music.

Rajini is expected to be back in India during the first week of January 2019 in time for the promotions of his upcoming film 'Petta' which is releasing on the Pongal holidays most probably the 10th of January. The film produced by Sun Pictures has the ensemble cast of Rajini, Vijay Sethupathi, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Megha Akash and Nawazuddin Siddique.
