Superstar Rajinikanth has expressed his Tamil New Year wishes to the people of Tamil Nadu with a strong message to his Rajini Makkal Mandram cadres.  The Thalaivar as he is fondly called has posted in Tamil "Let this new year turn out be a sweet one.  In these distressing times, I take this opportunity to appreciate my Rajini Makkal Mandram cadres who are risking their live to serve the public. Please stay safe by following all the restrictions and instructions put forward by the governments.  This too will pass."

On the professional front Rajini's 'Annaathae' produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Siruthai Siva which was on floors has been disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and is expected to resume only after the spread of the disease is totally controlled.  It is also said that Rajini's next film 'Thalaivar 169' will see him teaming up with Kamal Haasan directed by young breakout talent Lokesh Kanagaraj.
