Court decision on case against Superstar Rajinikanth speech on Periyar

On January 14th this year Superstar Rajinikanth during his speech at the Tuqlak magazine function had mentioned about a public rally organized by Periyaar in 1971 that caused controversy among the Periyarists. The Dravidar Viduthalai Iyakkam lodged a complaint at the Triplicane police station claiming that Rajini had falsified history and a case was filed.

After several hearings the case came up for verdict today and after listening to the council's of both the parties the court dismissed the case citing that no law and order issue was created due to Rajini's speech and it was also not defamatory.
