The audio launch ceremony of 'Vettaiyan' starring Superstar Rajinikanth unfolded yesterday. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the cop action drama is coming to cinemas on October 10th. Thalaivar's 50-minute engaging speech became the talk of the tinsel town. Here are some excerpts from his speech, which astonished the audience:
It's been almost 50 years since I entered the film industry. I came here without knowing anything, just boarded a train and arrived. I'm here today because of the support you've given me.
Soundarya mentioned that Gnanavel narrated a line. I told him, 'You always deliver a message, but that doesn't suit me. People should celebrate the film; it should be commercial.' He then asked for 10 days' time but called me in just two days, saying, 'I'll make it commercial, but I want to show the fans a different perspective of you, not like Nelson or Lokesh.' I replied, 'That's exactly what I want. If I wanted a film like theirs, I would have gone to Nelson or Lokesh.'
During the shooting of Mannan, Ravi brought a little child to the set. I placed that child on the throne and took a photo with him. Today, that child, Anirudh, is sitting on the throne of music. His concert tickets sell out immediately.
The director told me, 'We absolutely need Anirudh for the music.' I responded, 'For me, it's not just 100%, I need Anirudh 1000%!'
For an important comic relief character in the film, the director insisted that only Fahadh Faasil could do it. He mentioned that Fahadh is known for doing great films in Malayalam. Later, the director told me, 'I spoke to Fahadh, and he said he would act even without taking any salary.' But Fahadh didnât have available dates. The director suggested that we wait for him, and I said, 'Talk to the producer about it.' Lokesh Kanagaraj was already waiting for me. I told him, 'Let's push our shoot dates back a bit.' He immediately said, 'Sir, please!' (laughs) Thatâs when I realized he hadnât finished the story properly yet.
In a society full of manipulators like Shakuni, it's hard to survive if you're purely good. You need a bit of cunningness and wisdom. This wholesome, entertaining speech from Rajinikanth is rocking the internet today.
