Bharaathiraja organized a felicitation function for legendary screenwriter Kalaignianam with Rajinikanth participating as the chief guest. Speaking at the occasion the Superstar recalled how Kalaignianam gave him his first break as a hero in 'Bhairavi' and raised his salary from fifteen thousand to fifty thousand. He also shared that Kalaignianam unknown to him gave him that amount by pledging his wife's wedlock but the film became a super hit and the then distributor Kalaipuli S Thanu added the Superstar tag to him that has stuck to him till this day forty decades; later.

Rajini stated that only in this function he came to know that Kalaignianam was staying in a rented house and requested K. Bhagyaraj to look out for a suitable house for which he would pay the money. It is worth mentioning that during the production of 'Arunachalam', Rajini made the writer one of producing partner and helped him earn a lump sum. In the same event Minister Kadambur Raju also promised to speak to the Chief Minister and allot a house to Kalaignianam but Rajini assured him that he would take care of it an not leave the burden to the government.

The most emotional moment came when Rajini invited Kalaignianam to his house to stay until his new house is ready and also wished that his life would end there.
