A Public Interest Litigation was filed by one Devarajan who submitted documents suggesting that the theaters playing Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kaala' have charged more than the government stipulated price.  The same person had also filed a similar case against Rajini's 'Kabali' released in 2016.

The case came up for hearing and the judges after going through the documents have condemned the theaters charging more than the legal ticket price and have directed the government of TN to take action.  Similarly the exhorbitant parking fees and food and beverage prices have also come under the scanner of the court.  The government has been ordered to reply regarding this matter by the 25th of June.
