'Jailer' is the latest Superstar Rajinikanth film in the town. Directed by Nelson, the action entertainer landed on the big screens yesterday with a positive response unanimously. Fans hail it as a proper comeback film for Thalaivar, who has also reclaimed his throne at the box office with this movie.

As per the reports, Jailer has minted around Rs 48 to 49 crores on Day 1 in India. In Tamil Nadu, the numbers suggest that the film has grossed around Rs 24 to 25 crores without early morning shows and overpriced tickets. The worldwide estimates stand at around Rs 85 crores after the opening day. It is worth mentioning that Jailer has already reached the breakeven zone in many regions.

Going by the estimates, Jailer has now overtaken 'Varisu' and 'Thunivu' to become the highest opening-day grosser in India and Tamil Nadu. Overall, they are the fourth-highest domestic opening ever for Kollywood after '2.0', 'Beast' and 'Sarkar'. This film marks the highest Day 1 gross for a Tamil movie in Kerala and the all-time highest Day 1 gross for a Tamil movie in Karnataka.

Among Tamil films, Jailer is the third-highest opening day grosser of all time in AP/TG just behind 'Kabali' and '2.0'. It is also the third all-time highest opener in the USA only behind 'Kabali' and 'PS-1', the third all-time highest opener in the UK only behind the PS franchise, the third all-time highest opener in overseas only behind 'Kabali' and 'PS-2' and the third all-time Highest opener for any Kollywood movie worldwide only behind '2.0' and 'Kabali'.
