Rajinikanth addressed the media after bidding farewell to his dear friend Vijayakanth. He said to the press, "Vijayakanth's loss is a great tragedy and irreparable. It is so disheartening. I thought he would recover from his ailments because of his incredible determination. But when I saw him at a recent public meeting, I lost hope."

"If he had been healthy, he would have been a huge force in Tamil Nadu politics. The people of Tamil Nadu have lost a gem. May his soul rest in peace. Vijayakanth was an icon of friendship. His love and care will melt everyone. He helped me by controlling the crowd when I was admitted to hospital long back," added Thalaivar.
