Superstar Rajinikanth in the early days of his career acted in a record number of 23 films in one year and atleast half a dozen in general. After the year 2000 he cut down heavily on work and in the next 10 years only 6 of his films released. From 2010 till date only 8 films of the Thalaivar had hit the screens. 2018 was a bonus year for fans as 'Kaala' directed by Pa. Ranjith and '2.0' directed by Shankar released within three months of one another giving a double treat.

It is now learnt from reliable sources that 2020 will also see two Rajini films in theaters. 'Darbar' directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Productions is slated for release on Pongal next year. It is said that Rajini's next movie directed by Siruthai Siva will be a quickie and storm the screens on Diwali next year.
