We already brought you the news that Superstar Rajinikanth flew to Delhi on Sunday to receive one of the most prestigious awards for a film personality. Earlier today Rajini was bestowed the Dada Saheb Phalke Award from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of his wife Latha Rajinikanth, daughter Aishwarya R Dhanush, son in law Dhanush and grandson Yatra. He thanked the central government for the honor and also his friend Bahadur for his help in becoming an actor. Rajini then dedicated the award to his mentor K. Balachander and bowed to the Tamil people for giving him his livelihood.

It is noteworthy that Rajinikanth is the third Tamil film personality to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award after Sivaji Ganesan and K.Balachander. His son in law Dhanush had earlier bagged the National Award for Best Actor for the film Asuran, Vijay Sethupathi, Kalaipuli S Thanu and Vetrimaran also received awards at the national awards ceremony.
