Rajinikanth expressed his displeasure that the media in Tamil Nadu ignored a historic event when legendary Tamil music director Deva was felicitated by the former Prime Minister of Singapore.
On November 20th Thenisai Thendral Deva celebrated his 72nd birthday with a music concert held at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. Superstar Rajinikanth and actress Meena were amongst the celebrity guests who graced the occassion.
During his speech Rajinikanth stated that former President of Singapore S.R.Nathan who is of Tamil origin requested that the song 'Thanjavuru Mannu edhuthu" from 'Porkaalam' composed by Deva and written by Vairamuthu to be played at his funeral. His relatives fulfilled the wishes.
Rajinikanth said that this news was widely reported in many countries including Malaysia and Thailand and the media in those countries translated and broadcast the song composed by Deva. The Thalaivar slammed local news media that not even one channel or publication in Tamil Nadu carried the news of the honor that Deve received.
After Rajinikanth's speech the funeral video of S.R. Nathan with "Thanjavuru Mannu Eduthu" playing in the background is now going viral on the internet. It is worth mentioning that Deva gave several super hit songs for Rajini in films such as 'Annamalai', 'Baasha' and 'Arunachalam'.
