Superstar Rajinikanth has turned 71 today and social media is abuzz with loads and loads of love showered on him from millions of fans and celebrities from all wakes of life in India. Born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad in 1950 in a humble Marathi household in Bengaluru, Karnataka, he worked as a bus conductor to support his family.

The young Shivaji Rao's heart however was beating only as an actor which drew him to stage plays in Bengaluru. Understanding that to scale the peak in his field he had to become a film actor and thus started his journey to Chennai, Tamil Nadu in the seventies and the rest as they say is history for all to see.

Shivaji Rao became Rajinikanth the villain and it took a few years to become an action hero with his own inimitable style. After crossing hurdles after hurdles both within and outside he went on to become not a superstar but the Superstar. Today at 71 the Thalaivar as he is fondly addressed by his fans in unparalleled in his charisma and fan following. His passion for cinema has not diminished a millimeter and he is ready to give those who love even more joy in the coming years.
