This year has landed another brutal blow for Cinema enthusiasts. Actor Soumitra Chatterjee died today in Kolkata after being tested Covid-19 positive on October 6. He was a gem of Bengali as well as whole Indian Cinema. Mr Chatterjee breathed life into iconic characters like Apu, Feluda, Amal, Ajay etc.
Soumitra Chatterjee was best known for his 14 film collaboration with master director Satyajit Ray. They were like Kurosawa and Mifune of Bengali Cinema. Their most notable works include 'Apur Sansar', 'Abhijan', 'Charulata' etc. Mr Chatterjee was a recipient of several awards like Padma Bhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, besides winning three National Film Awards.
Many celebrities from Bollywood have expressed their condolences through social media.
