Social media is abuzz with the "Superstar" row as Rajinikanth fans are in an all out war with Thalapathy Vijay fans over who owns the tag. For more than forty years the word Superstar has been associated only with Rajinikanth not only in Tamil cinema but also across the country.

However in recent times several personalities have started addressing other heroes as superstars. In the recently released "Hukum" song from Rajini's 'Jailer' lyricist Super Soubu has written lines that suggest that four stars are vying for the Superstar tag but Thalaivar is permanent. Rajini himself stated that at the 'Jailer' audio launch that he is uncomfortable about using the prefix and wanted to remove it but it gave signals to his detractors that he was afraid and he kept it to show that he is afraid of only God and good people.

Meanwhile popular producer S.R. Prabhu a cousin of top heroes Suriya and Karthi and the owner of Dream Warrior Pictures has openly aired his opinion on Twitter. He wrote "The era of one superstar is over in film business. Every star has his own market share and for each film, the value varies based on release date, content, combination, competition, etc., "

The 'Kaithi' producer added "The industry which understands this start to support each other, uplift the whole market and expand beyond boundaries. Recent best example is Telugu industry. The stars, trade & fans in respective industries also have to understand this. I also hope this becomes a new norm everywhere and the whole Indian film industry rise to the best of standards including the trade & fans."

The upcoming biggie under S.R. Prabhu's stable is Karthi's 'Japan' directed by Raju Murugan releasing on Diwali. He is also bankrolling 'Rainbow' starring Rashmika Mandanna in the lead and 'Kannivedi' starring Keerthy Suresh.
