Madarasapattinam was Amy Jackson's Tamil debut and following this success, she went on to act in movies like Theri, Ai, 2.0 etc. However it has been revealed that the first choice to play the female lead wasn't Amy Jackson, but a Hollywood heroine.

AL Vijay has revealed that he had initially tried to sign Hollywood actress Vanessa Hudgens of Spring Breakers and Bad Boys for Life fame but could not reach her through agents. However he had been impressed seeing Amy's photos after winning Miss World Teen, and she had come for the auditions of Madarasapattinam on the last day, and was immediately signed to join the team.
