In the start of the millenium, director SJ Suryah who had delivered a debut blockbuster with Ajith starrer Vaali, returned with his second movie Kushi starring Vijay and Jyothika, and this 2000 movie became a blockbuster as well, running for 250 days.

One of the highlights of the romantic entertainer was the hot number Kattipudi Kattipudida featuring Vijay and Mumtaj, and the song is a favorite of many even now. Now director Nelson Venkatesan, who had directed SJ Suryah in Monster has revealed his experience of watching Kushi with his family, and has praised Kattipudi song as an aesthetic and sensuous song.
