Kannada superstar Upendra had directed a film after a gap of 10 long years. This versatile actor and director chose a different from routine film and wanted to explain how the state will prosper if a different businessman turned politician turns a chief minister. The technology, glamour and the pace of the film mesmerised the audiences.

STORY

Subash Chandra Gandhi (Upendra), stays in London and runs Gandhi and Gandhi, a multi-billionaire company. He loves India more than his life and he is a great patriot, though he stays outside the country. He falls in love with Indira (Nayanthara) thinking that she is a traditional girl. However, Indira has something more than marrying Gandhi in her brain. She thought of taking revenge by getting him married. Noticing his weakness about India and its traditions, she wants him to change himself first and forget his patriotism. She puts a test to him to get the pension to her childhood teacher like a common man. Gandhi accepts the test and tries his best but finds that he could not do anything as a common man because the entire system turned corrupt. When questioned, Indira reveals that she was the sister of Mandira (Tulip Joshi). Who is Mandira? What happened to Mandira? What made Indira to take revenge against Gandhi? Did Gandhi succeeded in convincing Indira? What he made to change the face of Hyderabad in particular and the country in general. Answers to all these questions form part of the remaining film.

PERFORMANCE

A hero like Upendra alone could do such kind of roles and others can't do justice. The different attires, the versatile action, sporting of maverick hairstyles and costumes would suit only Upendra. The dialogues penned for his character perfectly matched his histrionics. Nayanatara perfectly suited to the character. She is sexy in traditional dresses and at the same time, she was gorgeous in modern costumes. She too showed perfect expressions in different scenes. Tulip Joshi increased the glamour value though she had no great to play. Comedy by Sadhu Kokila and Ali evoked good laughs. Sudarshan as father of Upendra is okay.

TECHNICAL

Cinematographer Ashok Kashyap captured the beauty of London perfectly with his camera and it was a visual splendour. Graphics were used to show high-rise buildings near the Charminar, Assembly, Golconda and other important places in Hyderabad. Technical advancement of the film is no do doubt in the high scale. In order to give a native look, graphic work appears to be redone with Charminar, Assembly and Golconda. They gave a feel that Hyderabad would sport a different look by 2030. Music by Harikrishna is adequate. Dialogues by Vennelakanti were apt. Screenplay and script penned by Upendra were gripping and the directorial talent of Upendra is unquestionable.

ANALYSIS

Upendra foresaw the future and brought out the film in an extraordinary style. No doubt the audiences would get good entertainment. However, the non-Telugu extras appeared boring and it is very cinematic. Though the film is okay on technical front, the Telugu audiences may not like the film as a whole.
