Eclipses have an ominous aura around them from humanity’s early days. For the lack of a proper understanding, they have been surrounded by terrifying myths and legends which have found their way into modern times as well. As many people ranging from curious students to pregnant women are unaware and doubtful if its okay to step out and watch the rare phenomena that nature plays, weather expert Pradeep John’s message is straight and simple : Go out with your family and friends, and enjoy the eclipse without fear.
Not only this, he helped alleviate the general fear around the subject by sharing some points in his social page as well. According to it, an eclipse is just a shadow phenomena and there is no extra radiation during this incident. The sun, the earth and the moon fall in the same line on this day and the full moon passes through the earth’s shadow, resulting in the eclipse of the moon. Hence the name, lunar eclipse.
The moon will appear blood red in colour presenting itself in its wildest glory as a visual treat to onlookers. In Chennai, the moon is set to rise at 6.04 pm following which it is possible to predict what stages of the eclipse is visible. This phenomena is referred to as ‘Super Blue Blood Moon’ and the much afraid side effects are not backed up by science. So just go out there and enjoy the rare celestial event!
