There have been low-intensity protests over a scheduled Bengaluru New Year eve event featuring Bollywood actress Sunny Leone. A group of pro-Kannada outfits have asked for the event to be cancelled, threatening to even kill themselves if Sunny were to be allowed to entertain Bengaloreans on December 31st night.

Recently, the police said that they might not be able to assure security for the event. Sunny says in response to the development that she has decided to not give the show in view of the safety of the audience and her own security. She further says, "To all those who protested and to all those who supported, always remember, never allow others to speak and choose for you.Have your own voice and make your own choices. You are the youth and you are the NEW INDIA! Stand Proud and Stand together. I love you all dearly!"

Meanwhile, the event's organizer has moved the High Court, saying that his company has been denied permission to hold the Rs. 2.5 Cr event.
