Sunny Deol's 'Gadar' is an iconic part of his filmography as well as of entire Hindi cinema. Now after two decades of its release, director Anil Sharma is planning to make a sequel and Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma are set to reprise their characters from the original. Utkarsh is director Anil Sharma's son who played Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's kid in the movie.

The latest buzz about the project suggests that the film will be centred around the father son bond. Since the original was set in late 40s and early 50s, the sequel might be set in early 70s or so. A source told Pinkvilla, "Gadar is a timeless love story that created history at the box office. Twenty years later, Anil Sharma is now planning a sequel to Gadar with Sunny Deol and his son, Utkarsh Sharma. The filmmaker has cracked the one-line idea for the sequel, about Tara Singh returning to Pakistan to bring his son, Charanjeet Singh, back.”

A little while ago, Anil Sharma said in an interview, "The entire world wants to see Tara Singh back and I would love to make 10 films on that character. But it’s difficult to make Gadar 2. One needs a bomb of emotion, drama and grandeur. Whenever Gadar 2 is announced, you can assume that I have got that bomb.”
