A portion of Sunil's interview to a 24/7 news channel has gone viral. In a 'mukha mukhi' with Sunil, the interviewer is seen shooting the actor sensational questions, even going to the extent of suggesting that Sunil shouldn't have turned a male lead in the first place because he is not charming.

Sunil, to begin with, takes the things in his stride, calmly saying that Rajinikanth is not handsome either. "This is not a beauty pageant. Show me one superstar who looks handsome", Sunil says. "Have you come prepared to irritate me? You are deliberately saying all this to me. Who said I am not getting offers. Out of the eight films I have done as a male lead, six were hits. Only one film flopped, while the other one was an average grosser", Sunil says with a stern expression on his face.

The interviewer, as a follow up, suggests that Sunil is hardly fit to be a male lead. "Have you ever stood in front of a mirror and assessed yourself", the journo asks provocatively. At this point, an irked Sunil loses cool and suggests that the interviewer has an agenda. Not stopping at this, Sunil objectionably says, "Champestha mimmalni (I will kill you)".

Furthermore, the journo insinuates that Sunil wouldn't have succeeded in the industry if not for his caste. "Would you have become a success if you were not a Sunil Varma?", he says, adding that he would have otherwise succeeded only had he been a Naidu or a Chowdhary. Sunil answers in the affirmative, saying he would have become this big even if not for his caste.
