It's been a really long time since former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, was seen on field and the debate over his future in cricket has been happening since India's semi-final exit from the 2019 World Cup, after which Dhoni has not played International cricket and refrained from answering questions regarding the same as well.
With Dhoni's return to International cricket remaining uncertain, fans of the wicket keeper-batsman had been eagerly awaiting to watch their star player in action, but were left disappointed yet again due to the postponement of the 13th edition of IPL that was scheduled to begin on March 29. Now that COVID-19 has turned out to be a global pandemic, it is unlikely that the tournament will happen this year.
Meanwhile, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar recently stated that the chances of Dhoni returning to International cricket are very low. "I would certainly like to see Dhoni in India's World Cup squad but it's highly unlikely to happen. The team has moved on. Dhoni is not someone to make big announcements so I reckon he would silently retire from the game," he reportedly mentioned.
However, former president of the BCCI and Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan recently confirmed that Dhoni will be leading the Indian Premier League franchise in 2021 as well.
