It was recently announced by Google's co-founder Larry Page that Sundar Pichai had been appointed as the CEO of Google's parent company, Alphabet. A number of people are curious regarding the kind of pay package and increment he will be receiving following this promotion.
According to the company's filings, Sundar Pichai will take home a stock package worth $240 million over the next three years, the highest ever promised to any executive of the search giant, in addition to a $2 million annual salary beginning in 2020. "Pichai on Thursday received $90 million in stock awards that will vest by the end of 2022 depending on Alphabet's shareholder returns compared to the S&P 100. He also received two other stock grants, of $120 million and $30 million, neither tied to performance but subject to his continued employment," the filing further read.
Sundar Pichai joined Google in 2004 and has been widely credited for the development of Google Toolbar and then Google Chrome, which grew to become the world's most popular internet browser. He went on to become Google's CEO in August 2015.
Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin decided to step down from their current positions in the parent company Alphabet earlier this month, making Sundar Pichai the CEO of both Google and Alphabet.
