Director-Producer, Rama Narayanan in his time created history by producing and directing a staggering 100 films in around a dozen languages under the banner Sri Thenandal Films making it a household name. His mantra was low budget- no star- minimum guarantee. The rejuvenated renamed Thenandal Studios run by his family in a very short time have carved a niche as one of the topmost production houses in the country. The new mantra big stars-big money-bigger arena and the result is Vijay 61` the biggest budgeted film in Vijay s career and Sangamithra` a 250 Crore magnum opus directed by Sundar C.
The Studio and the director Sundar C are doing all the right things to ensure a success. Firstly the pre-production work was kickstarted almost a year ago with writers Subha on board and production designer Sabu Cyril simultaneously began set work. At the next stage top notch technicians like A.R. Rahman and hardworking actors Jayam Ravi, Arya and Shruti Haasan came on board. The master stroke is the decision to launch Sangamithra` at Cannes the most prestigious film festival in its 70th year.
Cannes is the place where not only great films are shown in competition, but where the who is who of the film industries of the globe meet and make deals. Several Hollywood films have been greenlit in this grand event. Now at a time when Baahubali 2` is smashing records all over the world the visibility of Sangamithra` is a sure shot and news coming in from France suggest that global players have already shown interest in the project and are more than happy to make investments.
The visit to France will surely be a costly affair, but by taking the call Thenandal and Sundar have not only made their project a global one, but also have shown Kollywood the avenues to other filmmakers to go global. With the confidence of future deals behind their backs the Sangamithra` team is going to work with much more ease and bring out a better product. A few months down the lane when the film releases they don`t have to put in too much effort to sell globally as Cannes would surely have taken care of that by now. Hail ! Sangamithra`.
